Course Description and Content
This course is concerned with the problems of developing, designing and conducting an individual research plan. More specifically, the course is designed to assist the students with the following:
1. A critical review of selection studies.
2. Identification of the trends in the body of research in order to become familiar with current concerns as well as to point out research needs.
3. Formulation and evaluation of researchable problems.
4. Development of a research design that employs appropriate methodology for dealing with the formulated problem.
5. Experiential learning through a simulated presentation of the overview to a committee comprised of class members and the instructor.
Graduate student may arrange individual work focusing on subjects or issues that are of interests to them, but are not available through regularly offered course work. This research work conducted preparatory to completion of the thesis or professional project as well as other approved research. Finally, the candidates for Master’s or Doctoral Degree must submit an independent study petition and secure approval of their advisor and of the faculty member sponsoring the study.
Course Requirement
1、 Each student must learn to collect reading materials. Required or suggested readings will be used as basis for discussion.
2、 Each student will be required to prepare a study proposal that clearly identified the intended course of study. The proposal must indicate the proposed content of the research work, the goal and objectives of the project and an identification of the management components to be used through the course of study.
3、 Periodically, exercises will be given that explore theoretical foundation, research methods, techniques and tool, as well as the related empirical studies. Assignments will include written and oral presentations.
4、 Attendance is mandatory.

Course Evaluation
This course is designed for graduate students who are prepared to engage in serious and scholarly preparation of a thesis and dissertation proposal. Therefore, a commitment is absolutely necessary. Your presence and contribution is important and is required for a successful class. Please do not waste the time and money of other students by coming to class unprepared, or by failing to be present to contribute your insight into the work of your colleagues.
